RCA Electric Spring Invitational Results

MORGAN HILL, CA – Friday marked not only the conclusion of three challenging rounds at Coyote Creek Golf Course, but also cause for celebration with Menlo Women's Golf freshman Kim Penzold hoisting her first collegiate trophy as the winner of the RCA Electric Spring Invitational.

Kim Penzold, Joe Dolby, Jess StimackOaks Highlights
-Besting 29 other golfers, Penzold shot in the 70s throughout each of the three rounds
-Penzold and Kayla Lancaster combined for 12 birdies in the tournament
-Lancaster and Haley Hoang each had season-best rounds along the way

Penzold Holds Off Competition By One Stroke
Entering the final round tied with Oregon Tech's Sydney Dick and thus competing head-to-head with her in their foursome, Penzold began with what would be three birdies across the last 18 holes that separated her from the 30-golfer field. Penzold's leading gap did narrow down the stretch, but a resilient eighth par of the day ended her final hole for the 7-over-par 79, a 12-over-par 228 in the tournament, and her first collegiate title.

Helping Menlo take fourth as a team behind Penzold, sophomore Kayla Lancaster had not only her highest individual finish of the year in 10th overall with a 27-over-par 243 that marked her best three-round score of the season as well. Junior Julia Torrez wrapped up in a four-way tie for 19th overall following her 41-over-par 257 and the Oaks qualifiers were rounded out by junior Haley Hoang in 26th at 51-over-par 267 for her lowest three-round score of the year.
