ATHERTON, CA – The first home game for Menlo NCBA Baseball at Cartan Field featured the Oaks' best collective performance of the season. Hosting San Francisco in game one of the weekend series, Menlo drew 11 walks, stole 12 bases, got four shutout innings from junior
Israel Garcia, and had freshman
Ryan Wilson drive in five including a three-run homer in the fourth all toward a dominant 13-0 victory on Saturday.
Oaks Score In Every Inning While Allowing Just Two Hits Total
After the first of many scoreless frames from Garcia started the action, Menlo went right to work getting on the scoreboard first with aggressive base-running from junior
Joseph Salmeron and Wilson paying off as their double steal prompted a throwing error from the Dons' catcher.
The lead grew to 3-0 in the second after freshman
Ashley Geary-Smith doubled home another then the Oaks broke the game open with five runs in the third inning the majority of which were scored on singles by freshman
Tylon Law Jr. and Wilson. Yet another five runs came in during a fourth-inning rally – two on Salmeron's double and three on the big blast to left by Wilson.
Garcia earned the win after surrendering only two hits, two walks, and striking out five in his 4.0 innings of work which gave way to freshman
Jeremy Marquez who struck out two before adding another scoreless frame in the fifth.
