Tournament Placements and Highlights
Daniel Arellano has continued to excel this season as he put together one of the most dominant early-round performances of the tournament. Arellano opened with a first-period pin over Sacramento State before rolling to a 16-4 major decision in the semifinals to punch his ticket to the 1st place bout. Arellano's run would unfortunately come to a sudden end after falling in the finals against Cal Poly to earn a strong runner-up placement.

Julian Sanchez would go on to put on just as an impressive performance at 125. Despite dropping his opening match, Sanchez would respond with urgency in the consolation bracket. Sanchez recorded a 16-1 technical fall to earn his first win of the day and a 15-2 major to advance to the consolation finals. Sanchez would end up with a fourth-place finish after a strong showing in his final match.

Following Sanchez is David Arroyo who put on an impressive performance at 149. Arroyo opened with a 6-2 decision before securing a fall in under two minutes to reach the semifinals. After dropping his semifinal bout, he narrowly missed a chance at the podium, falling 5-3 in the consolation match that would have advanced him to the third-place contest.

The final highlight of the night comes from veteran Matthew Porras Diamond. Now down a weight class at 184 from 197, Diamond made an immediate impact in his newly found weight class. He opened the tournament with a commanding 19-6 major over Josiah Hurd of SF State, then followed with a quarterfinal pin to secure his place in the semifinals. After failing 4-0 in a tightly contested semifinal bout, Diamond responded with composure and control on the backside. He would close out the day with two decision victories to claim third place at 184lbs.
