ALAMEDA, CA – Menlo Women's Golf got their first look at the 19-team field in Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Monday and it was freshman
Kim Penzold who emerged with one of the best scores overall to lead the Oaks to tie with Chico State for 16th overall as well as one stroke from a tie for 14th after one round of play at Corica Park Golf Course.
Penzold Opens With 2-Under-Par 70
Four birdies helped propel Penzold to a spot among the top five in a field of 102 golfers. At 2-under-par 70, she is sits alongside Westminster's Ashley Lam and Simon Fraser's Meera Minhas in fifth; just one stroke from fourth and two strokes back of a three-way tie for the individual lead.

Ester Otiepkova matched one another with first round scores of 8-over-par 80 to tie for 65th while sophomore
Kayla Lancaster represented the final Oaks qualifier in a tie for 96th with a 16-over-par 88.
