NCWA Menlo Men's Wrestling Dominates San Jose State with Four Bonus Point Victories

ATHERTON, CA – The NCWA Menlo Men's Wresting program ended the regular season on a high note inside of Haynes-Prim Pavilion, taking down the Spartans of San Jose State by a score of 59-6.

The Oaks earned forfeits from 125 to 149 to already go up with a comfortable lead 24-0 through the first four weights. Eric Smith-Williams began the evening at 157lbs against Christian Pena and earned a put on an offensive showcase in his final match in a Menlo singlet, earning himself a techfall as a final sendoff.  Menlo would end up earning two more forfeits at 165 and 174 to go up 41-0.

Matthew Porras Diamond looks to be filling in at 184lbs nicely, picking up a fall at the halfway mark of the first period. Senior Diego Cesar Chaidez got the go ahead at 197lbs against Giovanni Tolledos for his final dual in Haynes-Prim and went out with a bang. Chaidez began the match aggressive and it paid off as he would pick up a fall in a minute to put the Oaks up 53-0. San Jose State picked up their only win at 235 with a pin, adding six points to their total. Emilio Johnson would end up battling in his match, unfortunately his opponent would have to pull out due to injury, ending the dual in the Oaks favor 59-0.

As the regular season comes to a close, the Oaks will have to prep for the NCWA California State Tournament on Saturday, February 28 in Fresno, CA with action starting at 9AM to begin the postseason.
