SANTA BARBARA, CA –
Menlo Men's Tennis found themselves locked in three different extended singles battles that would determine the final result on the road at Westmont on Saturday. In the end, though the Oaks had the edge in two three-set matchups, the third was taken by the Warriors for their 4-3 victory.

Match Comes Down To Wire On Three Singles Courts
Foreshadowing the action that awaited in singles, both Menlo and Westmont fought through close doubles battles on Court 1 and Court 2 that ultimately finished with the point going to the Warriors.

Though the home team claimed additional singles wins on Courts 2 and 3, the Oaks began to rally with junior Robin McAlpine using the momentum of a first-set tiebreaker to down Diego De Cooman 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 on Court 1. Menlo needed the remaining three points for the victory and all would go three sets as sophomore Tijl Forger defeated Zach Steinberg 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Court 5 while senior Robinson Pelluault emerged from a grueling result on Court 6 as a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-1) winner. The match was settled on Court 4 where Antoine De Cooman prevailed over freshman David Espinosa Navarro 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 despite a near comeback.
