Oaks Claim Second Straight MPSF Championship With Dominant Dual Win Over Vanguard

COSTA MESA, CA – The Menlo Women's Wrestling team continued its reign on top of the MPSF, capturing their second straight MPSF Championship with a 38-7 victory over Vanguard.
 
On the way to the team title, Vanguard was able to strike first at 103 by taking a tight decision to earn the first team points of the dual. The Oaks however would earn the points back by picking up a forfeit at 110, making Kayla McKinley-Johnson the champion. The Lions picked up a tech fall at 117 to retake the lead but the Oaks answered right back at 124. Haley Narahara ignited the Oaks' surge, earning a dominant 10-0 technical fall over Elena Ramirez. Menlo Followed with another commanding performance with Louisa Schwab posting an 11-0 technical fall at 131 against Lillian Avalos.
 
The Oaks continued to stack points with forfeits at 138 and 145 to make Stephanie Chavez and Desiree Jones the champions of each weight and extended the lead to put the championship firmly in the Oaks' grasp. Bonus points kept rolling at 160, where Alexandra Lopez delivered a lightning quick fall in :30 seconds.
 
At 180, Kalila Shrive added another technical fall by a score of 13-0 over Abbie Hock, with Mikayla Lancaster closing the evening out with a forfeit at 207 to crown her second straight title.

With a dominant showing and adding another title to their name, the Oaks look to carry this momentum into the Cerritos Open on February 7th in Norwalk, CA.
