COSTA MESA, CA – In the second ever MPSF Conference Championship, the Menlo Oaks once again proved they are the conference's standard, claiming the MPSF team title for the second straight season, crowning four individual champions and finishing with 155 team points.

Erik Ramirez and Roberto Lopez got the calls to take on the 125lb bracket. In each of their first matches of the day, Lopez would be put up against Hayden Ancheta of San Francisco St while Ramirez took on Garen Keshishian, their second meetup of the season with Ramirez pinning Keshishian in less than :20 seconds. Lopez would drop his match against Ancheta, but Ramirez would mimic his first meeting against Keshishian with yet another quick in the first period, putting Ramirez in the finals. Ramirez would unfortunately drop the finals bout and name himself the runner-up at 125. On the backside, Lopez would go on to earn bronze after taking out Jovanni Evangelista by a 17-4 major and Kenshishian by a 10-3 decision.

At 133, Atridad Feizi went on to earn himself bronze. Feizi started his day unfortunately dropping a close 5-3 decision against Isaiah Miller but battled back in the consolation bracket by pinning Isaiah Torres of Vanguard in 0:52 seconds.

The Oaks' first champion of the day came from veteran Michael Torres at 141. Torres started off hot, picking up a fall in 1:11 against Cash Port of Vanguard to put himself in the championship bout against a familiar foe in Darrell Nanpuya of Cal Poly Humboldt. Torres was able to earn the lone takedown on his way to the 4-1 decision to claim the conference title.

At 149 the Oaks had two underclassmen representing the weight in sophomore Ivan Acosta and freshman Tyger Taam. On Acosta's side of the bracket, the sophomore was able to earn two falls on his way to the championship bout over the #1 seed in Jason Victoria and the #4 seed Andre Dargani in the semifinals. Taam would display an equally impressive showing with a tech fall and a fall of his own against Zane Stoddard in the semis to also put himself in the finals at 149lbs. Taam would come out with the 7-4 decision in the finals to earn the MPSF title as a freshman.

Kanaipono Tapia kept his stellar season rolling, collecting a 16-0 techfall in the semifinals and then earning a gritty 6-5 decision over Kyle Botelho of SF State to add a conference title to his name. Isaiah Morales showed out as well at 174 and picked up a fall in 3:56 in the semifinals to advance to the next round. After a solid showing in the first half of his final bout, Morales went on to claim the runner-up position of his bracket. At 184, Mathias Collins added to the team total with three wins and a third-place finish. Collins opened with a decision to reach the semifinals, but after dropping his next bout, he responded strong on the backside by posting a 19-3 tech fall before securing third place with a 10-4 decision.

Sophomore Diego Morales delivered a standout performance at 197 lbs while defending his MPSF title.
