GOLETA, Calif. – The duo of freshman Zihe "Clara" Yuan and sophomore Kim Penzold proved to be particularly dynamic on Tuesday as both combined to pass 27 others in one of the best collective rounds of the season for Menlo Women's Golf. With beautiful Sandpiper Golf Club the backdrop, the Oaks finished the Westmont Invitational in fourth overall with their two leaders among the 54 golfer field's top six.

Oaks Highlights
-Rising two spots on day two, the Oaks topped five other teams
-Huge jumps up the leaderboard came from Zihe "Clara" Yuan (14 spots) and Kim Penzold (13 spots) on the final day
-Penzold finished with eight birdies (second-most in the tourney), Yuan totaled 23 pars (seventh-most in the tourney)

Team's Second-Lowest Round Score Elevates Menlo Into Fourth
Saving some of her best golf for the final holes, Yuan parred 12 of her first 14 then proceeded to birdie three straight on Holes 15-17. Her seven-stroke improvement to a 2-under-par 71 ultimately helped her rise 14 spots into fifth overall with a 3-over-par 149 through two days of action. At 4-over-par 150, Penzold was just behind her teammate, ascending 13 places into a tie for sixth after her 1-under-par 72 featured a par or better in each of her first 10 holes.

Following up a strong first round, sophomore Ester Otiepkova delivered two more birdies as part of her 4-over-par 77 which had her tied for eighth holding a 5-over-par 151 and the Oaks' third top-10 result. The final day saw sophomore Laura Goertzen representing the fourth Menlo score at a 13-over-par 86, but it was senior Julia Torrez who ended next in the overall tournament rankings tied for 44th.
