Westmont Invitational Results (Round 1)
GOLETA, Calif. – Competing alongside many of the Oaks' former Pacific West Conference opponents, Menlo Women's Golf began the Westmont Invitational in the hunt for a spot in the middle of the pack, holding sixth as a team with sophomore
Ester Otiepkova leading the way.
Top Three Oaks Combine For Eight Birdies In Opening Round
Though Otiepkova found herself at 3-over-par through the first nine holes on Monday, her back nine proved stellar as she delivered seven pars and two birdies to finish with a 1-over-par 74 good for a four-way tie for fifth out of 54 total golfers.
Identical 5-over-par 78 scores were carded by both freshman
Zihe "Clara" Yuan and sophomore
Kim Penzold in 19th overall. Yuan had 11 pars through the round while Penzold had more of an up-and-down journey with four birdies balancing out her other results. The fourth Oak to qualify the first day was senior
Julia Torrez in 33rd with an 8-over-par 81.
