Otter Invitational Results (Rounds 1&2)

SEASIDE, Calif. – Menlo Men's Golf was one of just two teams to collectively improve on the second day of the Otter Invitational, taking four strokes off Sunday's first round score to move into first place overall on Monday. The tandem of freshman Cesare Pagliughi and sophomore Chase Yukawa combined for nine birdies in their rise to share the second spot out at Blackhorse & Bayonet Golf Course.

Every Oak Posts At Least Three Birdies In Second Round
Pagliughi had a bit of an up-and-down front nine, balancing three birdies with three bogeys before an extremely consistent final nine holes marked by six pars and two more birdies. His 1-under-par 71 matched his Sunday score and kept him just one stroke back of the leader, Chico State's Ty Weaver, alongside Yukawa who also delivered a 1-under-par 71 result with 11 pars and four birdies. The pair from Menlo will enter Tuesday at 2-under-par 142 while the team as a whole holds a two-stroke lead on tournament host Cal State Monterey Bay.

In support of the two Oaks sharing second place, junior Emmett Shell had a rollercoaster ride of an ending to his 18 holes on Monday, either birdying or bogeying his last five holes before ultimately settling on an improvement from round one at 2-over-par 74 to give him a 5-over-par 145 in a five-way tie for 21st. Freshman Bennet Brand posted the third-lowest score for Menlo on day two, carding a 1-over-par 73 as two of his four birdies began the morning while senior Cole Kroeker added three more birdies in his second round, finishing at a 5-over-par 77 that helped put him a large tie with seven others for 33rd overall.
