SAN RAFAEL, CA – After making their move at the end of the first half, Menlo Women's Basketball was up heading into the fourth quarter, but Dominican rallied back on their home floor to capture the 58-53 Pacific West Conference victory.

After an evenly-played first half in which five different Oaks scored, capped by a buzzer-beating layup for sophomore guard/forward
Kimberly Ceron-Romero at the end of the first quarter, Menlo shifted momentum from being down by three to up 30-22 at the half thanks to a 13-2 run to end the second frame. After four quick points from senior guard

Laila Saenz had a hand in the next three scores, stealing and converting then assisting Ceron-Romero's three-point play and a layup by senior guard
Alberte Frisch.
An 11-0 run by Dominican came early in the third quarter to suddenly put the Penguins in front 33-31 yet steady scoring around the basket came in the form of paint points by Frisch and Ceron-Romero. A 44-40 Oaks advantage to start the fourth briefly became six on another block and fastbreak score by Ceron-Romero, but a 7-0 response had the Penguins once again on top. Zoe Carrillo tied things up at 53-53, however, the final two minutes belonged to Dominican as the home team settled on top 58-53.

The Oaks will now have over seven days before their next game which takes them to Irvine for a 5 p.m. matchup with Concordia that starts a Southern California road trip on Feb. 3.
