Oaks Make Statement in Sweep Over the Lumberjacks

ARCATA, CA  – Menlo Men's Wrestling took on Cal Poly Humboldt for their second MPSF Conference matchup of the season inside of the Lumberjack Arena. The Oaks took control do the dual from the first bout all the way to the last, beating the Lumberjacks 44-0.
 
Erik Ramirez got the call to start the dual off and wasted no time by earning a takedown that transitioned into a fall in just under a minute to make the Oaks go up 6-0. Atridad Feizi followed at 133lbs and took on Isaiah Miller who was last season's MPSF runner-up at 125. Despite giving up the first takedown of the bout, Feizi hit a head and arm throw to put Miller on his back that lead to a pin to put the Oaks up 12-0 in two matches.
 
Michael Torres took on Darrell Nanpuya at 141, a rematch of their last meetup from the Roadrunner Open back in November where Torres would drop a close bout 5-2. This time Torres took complete control of the bout, taking down Nanpuya and putting him on his back to earn 7 quick points for a comfortable lead. Torres would come out with the 8-1 decision to avenge his early season loss. Tyger Taam would bump up to 149 for the Oaks filled in like he belonged at the weight. Taam earned three takedowns to earn a 10-3 decision over Gil Mossburg.
 
For the final bout of the first half of the dual, Ezekiel Lara would go and put on an offensive clinic to earn a 10-1 major over Sam Weinberg.
 
Kanaipono Tapia kept the ball rolling in the second half of the dual, earning a clean-cut technical fall in just the first period to add on five team points for the Oaks. Isaiah Morales followed Tapia at 174 with a first period technical fall of his own by a score of 20-2.
 
Mathias Collins would take the 184 spot for Menlo, edging out Eric Ruiz-Conelio in a 4-3 decision. Diego Morales would earn the Oaks' final bonus points of the night, picking up a fall to put Menlo up 41-0 heading into the final bout. Javier Martinez got the call for heavyweight to put the nail in the coffin, earning a 12-6 decision which provided the sweep over the Lumberjacks.
