Oaks Earn Victory Over Western Colorado at 35th Annual Tracy Borah Duals

GUNNISON, CO –
Menlo Men's Wrestling opened up the New Year by heading taking part in the 35th Annual Tracy Deborah Duals. The Oaks would come out with one win out of three duals to start their 2026 run.
 
Menlo v. Adams State, 7-36
The Oaks would start their day against No. 16 Adams State, who took control of the dual from the jump. The Oaks would only carry out two wins in the dual with veterans Kanaipono Tapia and Isaiah Morales taking the victories at 165 and 174. Tapia would earn a 10-2 major decision against Malachi Rider, earning three takedowns and a riding time point to secure the bonus point. Morales would earn two early takedowns in the first period, cruising to an 8-2 decision to tally on the final team points for the Oaks.
 
Menlo v. CSU Pueblo, 17-21
In their second dual, the Oaks would face off against CSU Pueblo and start off on the right foot. After giving up a decision at 125, Atridad Feizi would earn bonus points with a 12-1 decision at 133, with Michael Torres adding three more team points with a 7-2 decision. With the Oaks giving up a forfeit at 149, Ezekiel Lara would earn a gritty 7-4 sudden victory with Kanaipono Tapia tallying on more bonus points with a 13-3 major. Menlo would's momentum would be stopped with Pueblo earning bonus points with a tech fall and a major in the next two weights. Diego Morales would earn his first win of 2026 with a 17-4 major, tallying on four takedowns and a four-point near-fall to his resume. Pueblo would go on to take a decision at heavyweight, while the Oaks would be deducted a team point in the dual, falling 17-21.
 
Menlo v. Western Colorado, 25-25
In their final dual, the Oaks faced Western Colorado for the second time this season. In the first four weights, the teams would split forfeits with the dual beginning at 157. Western Colorado would take the first official match by decision, but Kanaipono Tapia would earn his third bonus point victory on the day with a 17-2 technical fall. Isaiah Morales would do the same at 174 but Western Colorado would stop that momentum with bonus points of their own. Diego Morales would earn the Oaks' final win of the day with a 9-3 decision, to earn the Oaks the 25-25 criteria victory over the Mountaineers.

The Oaks will look forward to taking on Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata, CA inside of the Lumberjack Arena for their second MPSF Conference matchup this season at 5PM PST.
