Westminster Wasatch Invitational Results (Round 1)
SOUTH JORDAN, UT – The opening round of the Westminster Wasatch Invitational saw freshman
Ester Otiepkova deliver a dynamic collegiate debut with Menlo Women's Golf as, just one over par through Sunday's first 18 holes, she is among a five-way tie for the top spot of 66 competitors out at Glenmoor Golf Course. One day of action has the Oaks in eighth overall.
Otiepkova Impresses Through Opening Round
Birdies on three of four holes as she began the back nine helped Otiepkova return to even where she remained until the round's penultimate hole. The native of Predklasteri, Czech Republic ended 1-over-par 73, knotted with four others including golfers from Pacific West Conference members Westmont (Kyla Layman) and Vanguard (Theresa Shaw). Rounding out the top four for Menlo were freshman
Kim Penzold tied for 24th at 7-over-par 79 followed by freshman
Laura Goertzen tied for 52nd at 13-over-par 85, and junior
Julia Torrez tied for 55th overall at 14-over-par 86.
Finishing Strong
Back on the links at 7:30 a.m. MT (6:30 a.m. PT) tomorrow, the Oaks will card their second and final round of the Westminster Wasatch Invitational.
