Season-Opening Wildcat Classic Sees Stark As Menlo Men’s Golf Leader

MARYSVILLE, CA – Multiple improved scores including the best of three rounds from graduate student Jack Stark highlighted the final day for Menlo Men's Golf in Chico State's Wildcat Classic as the Oaks placed 13th overall out at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club on Tuesday.

Oaks Highlights
-Jack Stark improved his score with each round, leading Menlo with a 1-under-par 71 on the final day
-Emmett Shell started the year with his collegiate-best round, shooting a 3-under-par 69
-Cole Kroeker logged the team's first eagle of the season in round two

Stark Jumps 10+ On Leaderboard In Last Round
Moving up 13 spots on Tuesday alone, Stark was the picture of consistency in the third round. He was even through his first seven holes and added two birdies the rest of the way for a 1-under-par 71 as part of his 2-over-par 218 and 45th place result in the tournament.

Moves up the leaderboard were also made by sophomore Ryan Bello and senior Kevin Chen who ended with last rounds of 3-over-par 74 and 4-over-par 75 respectively, earning them ties for 56th (5-over-par 221) and 76th (12-over-par 228) overall. Behind sophomore Emmett Shell's 8-over-par 224 (69th overall) as the third Oak finisher, Chen shared his end position with junior Cole Kroeker, owner of three birdies in his first three holes.

With their first tournament of the fall season now complete, the Oaks will turn their attention to their home tournament, the RCA Electric Invitational, taking place Sept. 29-30 at Quail Lodge Golf Resort in Carmel.
