Menlo Women’s Golf Team Competes in Conference Championship Debut

4/24/2025 12:20:00 AM

Las Vegas, NV - The Menlo Women's Golf team ventured to Aliante Golf Club in Las Vegas, NV for the PacWest Conference Championship.  Although the result wasn't what the Oaks were looking for; every player learned something new about themselves and made memories along the way.

Fanning and Obermuller Finish in the Top 10
After the last 54 holes of the year, it was Freshman Rori Fanning and Senior Holly Obermuller who stayed hot and finished in the top ten.  This was the first time the Oaks have played in the PacWest Conference Championship tournament and the dynamic duo of Fanning and Obermuller didn't disappoint.

In the final round of play; Fanning, Obermuller, and Sakshi Mehta all finished with a 79.  Fanning ended the tournament with a total score of six over and Obermuller finished eight over par.

After the tournament, Director of Golf Mike Givens said, "It was great to watch our players compete this week. They battled hard and left everything they had on the course!  Our women's team led by Holly and Rori did a great job of keeping our team in the mix. Unfortunately, we didn't finish on top but we, our women's team, will learn from this tournament and will be ready in the Fall. We will be reloading for the Fall 2025 as Holly is the only women's golfer graduating this Spring."

Assistant coach Jake Malone said, "Holly and Rori capped off the season just like they performed all year; at the top. We couldn't be more proud of them and the entire team as a coaching staff. They all fought hard over the past three days and showed up when it counted."
