Las Vegas, NV - After a long 54 holes of play at Aliante Golf Club, the Menlo Men's Golf team battled until the end and made countless memories along the way. Although this was the final tournament of the season, the Oaks battled through adversity and all improved throughout the course of the season.
The Last Chapter for Hautbourg and Landry
Two of the best to walk the halls of Menlo College in Paul Hautbourg and Nicolas-Guy Landry; went out with a bang and ended their college careers with a memorable conference championship. Hautbourg led the Oaks on the leaderboard for the second time this tournament shooting a 74 on the day. Hautbourg was dialed off the tee box whether it was with his driver or an iron; he knew it would end up somewhere down the middle of the fairway. Hautbourg finished in sixth place overall in the field and was throwing darts on his approach shots.
Landry also had a great tournament in his college finale with the Oaks. Although he was unfortunately disqualified in the final round of play, he will still go down as one of Menlo's greatest.
Director of Golf Mike Givens said, "Our men's team did a great job battling for the 3 days to try and stay close to the top of the leaderboard. The six guys we bought were dialed in and ready for the challenge! Every day, they went on the course and competed hard! It was a great ride for our seniors Nic and Paul and they have paved the way by setting the bar high for our team next year.
Assistant Coach Ryan Stefko after the conclusion of the tournament said, " The final round does not define our performance in our inaugural PacWest conference championship; nor our season. But it does resemble how our season went from September to April. The week consisted of highs and lows with multiple takeaways from each player and our team. Ultimately, we came out stronger as a group and closer with one another, bringing us the joy of coaching these young men and being a part of a special group that will never be broken. Many memories of the week and year will commemorate the 24-25 season and I wish our seniors Nic Landry and Paul Hautbourg all the best as they leave their college careers with an impact that the younger teammates will carry forward in the years to come."
Although the Oaks season has concluded, it was a memorable year for the Menlo Men's Golf team with this being their first year in the PacWest Conference.
