WASHINGTON, D.C. – Menlo College proudly recognizes that two of its standout cheer athletes, Ecaterina Hines and Sophia Dizon, have been selected for the esteemed Red Cross Collegiate Leadership Program, a national honor that includes a $2,000 scholarship and an opportunity to train with leaders at the American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington D.C. Hines and Dizon, both freshmen, were chosen for their academic excellence, campus leadership, and commitment to service, key qualities the Red Cross seeks in young changemakers.
Ecaterina Hines
Ecaterina "Ecat" Hines, a Sports Management major, hails from Atwater, California, and is a graduate of Buhach Colony High School. She currently serves as Freshman Class President at Menlo College and is widely recognized for her leadership, school spirit, and commitment to making a difference both on campus and beyond.
Sophia Dizon
Sophia Dizon, a driven Accounting major, comes to Menlo from San Jose, California, where she attended Westmont High School. Boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA, Dizon also ran for Freshman Class President and has quickly earned a reputation as a dedicated student and emerging campus leader.
Leadership Summit in June 2025
As participants, Hines and Dizon will travel to Washington D.C. this June for a two-week leadership summit, where they'll engage in intensive training, mentoring, and networking with Red Cross and NAIA leaders. Upon returning to campus, they'll lead the charge in organizing Red Cross blood drives and promoting community engagement throughout their junior and senior years.
