Las Vegas, NV - The Menlo Women's Golf team competed today in the PacWest Conference Championships at Aliante Golf Club; they fought hard and are still in the mix of things with 36 holes remaining.  The Oaks shot a team total of eighteen over par today and it is a very tight race thus far.

The Fanning, Obermuller 1-2 Punch
Freshman Rori Fanning had her best round of her collegiate career today, as she fired off a three under par round.  Putts were dropping and Fanning was dialed off the tee box with the disco stick.  The 69 from Fanning was backed with six total birdies on her scorecard; three of them came through the first four holes.  Fanning currently leads the field in the first place out of 50 competitors.

Senior Holly Obermuller also played great in the tournament opener.  Obermuller shot a 73; one over par, where she had two bogeys and one birdie.  Obermuller currently sits in sixth place overall in the field and is ready to get after it tomorrow.

Fanning had this to say after the round, "My wedges helped me a lot coming into the greens.  I was left with a lot of short putts and was able to make some great birdies."
