Seniors Sweep Jessup in Final Match of the Season

ATHERTON, CA - Menlo Women's Tennis closed out their final home match of the season in style, celebrating Senior Day with a dominant 7-0 sweep over Jessup University on the Cartan Tennis Courts. The Oaks showcased their depth and experience, claiming six straight-set victories along with a forfeit win at the no. 6 singles spot.

Seniors Sweeping the Doubles
Starting off in doubles play, the Oaks would send out their four graduating seniors to take the court with Anthea Weiland and Milana Hrudka at the no. 1 spot and Lea Mocher and Andrea Vlasceanu at the no. 2 spot. The duo of Mocher and Vlasceanu would earn a commanding victory over their opponents with a 6-0 sweep. Weiland and Hrudka added onto that momentum with a 6-1 victory over Nia Macay and Angel Cody to earn the first point of the day.

Ending the Year on a High Note
The Oaks carried the doubles momentum in singles play, earning five straight victories across the board with a forfeit at the no. 6 spot. Anthea Weiland battled through a competitive second set to defeat Jessup's Nia Macay 6-2, 7-5 for her final collegiate match. Fellow senior Milana Hrudka followed with an impressive showing at the no. 2 spot, overpowering Angel Cody 6-2, 6-1 to earn the third point. Another senior in Lea Mocher took control throughout her match, taking down Rylie Maloney 6-2, 6-4 in her final match with the Oaks. Andrea Vlasceanu was the final Oak senior to take the court at the no. 4 spot, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Antonella Cardenas for the fifth point for the Oaks. Carlotta Stern added another win for Menlo at the no. 5 spot grinding out a 6-3, 6-4 win over Olivia Gutierrez. Jessup would forfeit the no. 6 singles match, securing the Oak's 7-0 sweep in the final match of the season. Wrapping up the season with an 8-9 record, the Oaks concluded their first year at the NCAA level with determination and progress. Throughout the season, Menlo Women's Tennis showcased their competitiveness and potential, setting the groundwork for continued growth and success in the years to come.
