Menlo Men’s Golf Competes Til the End with 4th Place Finish in Moorpark

3/12/2025 1:10:00 AM

Moorpark, CA - The CLU Kingsmen Invitational has concluded, and the Oaks battled hard until the very last shot; ultimately obtaining a fourth place finish at Moorpark Country Club.  A round filled with highs and lows; and also a good amount of rain, the Oaks really left it all out there on the course.

Landry in the Top 10
Senior Nicolas-Guy Landry was the front runner for the Oaks as he had an overall good tournament.  Landry finished tied for sixth in a field of 80 players; where he was also just two strokes shy of the leader.  It was a rather uneventful final round on the course for Landry, as he had a eleven pars on the round with a pair of birdies to add to his name.  These two pars for Landry came on holes three and sixteen; where he was able to train together a combination of good shots to put himself in a good position to go low.  Landry was able to finish the tournament with a score of just one over par.

Gangavarapu Came to Play
Tej Gangavarapu, a Junior from India, really showcased his skills these past two days down in Moorpark.  Short game for Gangavarapu was on point all day during the final round as well.  Although there were some tough weather conditions, Gangavarapu kept his head down and went to work.  He finished off the second round with three total birdies on his scorecard that came at the result of his dialed putting.  Gangavarapu finished off the tournament at four over par and in the top 20% in the field.

Assistant Coach Ryan Stefko after the round said, "This week was great with good camaraderie. It was fun and exciting having adrenaline with being back in contention with many top division three schools.  There was some great competition and to be able to compete with them, we just need to be in that position more often, and gain a lot more experience while in contention.  The guys definitely learned a lot about themselves and how to handle pressure and adversity throughout the week with the change of weather and tough scoring conditions. They're excited for our next tournament coming up with Sonoma, which will be a great field that we're looking forward to as well with some tough competition, but looking forward to what's next to come as our schedule gets tougher and tougher and we're gonna embrace that competition and hopefully put ourselves back in contention and pull through in the next tournaments."
