Carmel, CA - The Menlo Men's Golf team concluded the final round of the PCH Invitational with a better result than day one. The Oaks finished off round two with a score two times better than day one and the players scores reflected such. This was a nonstop fight to the finish where Menlo walked away with a third place finish in the field.
Gangavarapu and Landry Go Back and Forth
Junior Tej Gangavarapu and Senior Nicolas-Guy Landry went back and forth both rounds of the PCH Invitational. After day one it was Landry getting the upper hand beating out his teammate Gangavarapu by one stroke; after the final round, it was Gangavarapu beating out Landry by a stroke. Gangavarapu finished off the second round with a one over par 72 score round. This came at the help of four birdies on the scorecard, three of which came during a four hole span.
Landry, with a 73 on the day, finally was able to walk away with a birdie. It was not just one birdie for Landry either, but four birdies in a row. Landry was three under par to start his round; this early momentum carried Landry to securing birdie number five halfway through the round and finishing with a score of two over par.
Landry had this to say following the tournament, "It's always a pleasure to play at Quail, the course is fantastic and the experience never disappoints. The team fought hard out there today and I'm proud of the effort we put in. I am looking forward to the rest of the season and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this team."
