Oaks Swamp the Gators in Final Dual of the Season

Atherton, CA – For the final dual of the season, the Oaks capped off its regular season in dramatic fashion, securing a hard-fought 22-19 victory over San Francisco State inside of Haynes-prim Pavilion. The Oaks delivered clutch performances to earn bonus points to overcome the Gators in front of a packed home crowd.
 

Match Results
The night started on a strong note for Menlo at 125 pounds, as freshman Elijah Valencia set the tone with a commanding 8-1 decision win to put the Oaks on the board first 3-0. The Oaks struggled to find momentum in the next three weights as SF State responded with three major decision wins to take the lead 3-12. Ezekiel Lara was able to reignite Menlo's energy at 157 pounds, battling to an 11-7 decision to tighten the gap 6-12.
 
For the second half of the dual, the Oaks were unable to take 165 pounds, giving up a major decision. At 174 pounds, Ledger Petracek was able to six team points to the team total due to an unfortunate injury default from SF State. The shift of momentum continued as Jonathan Moreno electrified Haynes-Prim with a second-period pin to put the Oaks in the lead 18-16. Another freshman in Diego Morales added to Oaks' lead with a dominant 9-0 major decision to extend the Oaks' lead 22-16 to ice the match. Despite a dominant second half performance, Menlo was unable to take the heavyweight bout.
