Jonathan Moreno Takes Gold at the Oak's Men's Tournament

Atherton, CA – After a successful senior night the day before, Oaks men's wrestling took care of business at the Oak's Men's Tournament by placing 8 wrestlers across each weight class. Jonathan Moreno was able to claim the top spot at 184lbs, dominating each opponent the senior came across.
 
Oaks Placers
125 – Elijah Valencia is the first placer of the tournament by placing 2nd after achieving two technical falls before falling in the finals in a heated battle. Ethan Guillermo delivered a stellar performance as well, securing 3rd place. He was able to secure an 11-4 decision in the quarterfinals. After falling in the quarterfinal bout, Guillermo was able to battle back for the third-place bout and recorded a 26-second fall to take 3rd place.
 
133 – Roberto Lopez was able to finish as the runner-up, earning a major in the quarters and edging out a 4-2 decision to get into the finals. Lopez would show true grit and determination to fight for the win but would ultimately fall 3-7 to take second. Noah Messman would end up taking 3rd, with his final bout ending 7-3 over SF State.
 
149 – Noah Elliott would end his day by placing 3rd. After falling in the semifinals, Elliot would end up earning two hard-fought decision victories over SF State and Cal Poly SLO to take bronze.
 
165 – Devon Wells looks comfortable after bumping up two weight classes to solidify himself at 165lbs. Wells would earn a fall in his first match but would end up short in the semifinals. The freshman would then earn a decision victory to get into the third-place bout. Wells would then dominate his opponent from SF State 15-0 to earn bronze.
 
184 – The lone Oak to earn gold today was the senior from Ontario, CA Jonathan Moreno as he was able to earn two decisions in the semifinals and finals. Despite giving up some points in his matches, Moreno's top game is proven to be a force to be reckoned with as no one was able to stop him from earning back points.
 
197 – For the final Oak, Juan Carlos Escutia secured a 3rd place finish. After earning a 19-4 tech fall in the quarters, he would fall short in the semis to get into the first-place bout. The sophomore from Salinas, CA would end up earning a 10-2 decision to get into the 3rd place match and earned a fall in the first period to secure bronze.
