ATHERTON, CA – Embracing the holiday spirit, Menlo College student-athletes, coaches, and staff united in giving back to their local community earlier this month. Continuing an annual tradition, Menlo Athletics partnered with theÂ
Good Tidings Foundation to support their Winter Wonderland program, an initiative focused on providing gifts to children in underserved communities all across the Bay Area.
Officially starting in 2018, the Good Tidings Foundation Winter Wonderland program collects toys through local drives to benefit children from non-profit partners, schools, and communities in need. Menlo Athletics, a proud supporter of this initiative, added another chapter to its ongoing partnership, committing to making a difference with a variety of contributions.
"This annual tradition captures the very best of Menlo — teamwork, generosity, and care for our community," said Menlo President Steven Weiner. "I am deeply proud of our student-athletes and staff for embracing this tradition and helping bring joy to thousands of children in our community."
Menlo was once again at the forefront of providing toys to help the Good Tidings Winter Wonderland shine even brighter. Collecting nearly 500 toys over the course of multiple months, the Oaks exemplified teamwork while loading and unloading a truckful of future joy to the program's more than 2,000 children who enjoy the thousands of toys supplied every year.
"We truly appreciate all the support we have received from the staff and the athletes at Menlo," said Good Tidings Foundation Operations Manager and Menlo Women's Soccer Alumni Angelica Soto. "This wouldn't have been a success without you all."
In addition to toy collection, Menlo coaches and student-athletes offered their help as volunteers during the Winter Wonderland itself. From greeting families to assisting with toy shopping and restocking shelves, the Oaks supported memorable experiences for each child.
Menlo Athletics extends its gratitude to everyone who contributed to this year's toy drive and wishes all Oaks, past and present, a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year.
