Menlo NCWA Men's Wrestling Takes Down Washington State in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV – Menlo NCWA Men's Wrestling had their final matches of 2025 inside of the Flamingo Hotel & Casino at the Desert Duals. The Oaks would end up taking one dual out of three, beating Washington State with a dominant 38-13 victory.
 
Menlo NCWA v. Wartburg, 15-32
The Oaks would take on Wartburg for their dual of the day, star 125lber Daniel Arellano would earn the Oaks first team points with a pin in three and a half minutes, putting the Oaks up six. Despite an ideal start to the dual, the Oaks would end up dropping  three close battled matches that were crucial to the team score. The Oaks would give up a pin at 157 but JT Nishikawa would stop the momentum by earning an 8-4 decision with 2 takedowns. The Oaks would end up giving up the next three bouts to Wartburg with Menlo claiming a forfeit at heavyweight.
 
Menlo NCWA v. Washington State, 38-13
Daniel Arrellano began the Oaks run with a 16-1 technical fall with Juan Diaz making an appearance at 133 with a pin in less than a minute to put the Oaks up 11-0 in two bouts. Jimmy Romero would get the nod at 141 with a pin while being up 13-5 in his bout. Washington State would take a decision and a major at 149 and 157 before Ian Rodriguez stopping the momentum by earning three takedowns on his way to a 12-4 decision. Nishikawa would go on to earn his second win of the day with an incredible 21-5 technical fall just before the five minute mark, collecting seven takedowns in the bout. With a pin for Washington State at 184, Daniel Hernandez and Jakob Connors would both collect pins to ice the match for the Oaks.
 
Menlo NCWA v. Snow College, 20-34
For their final dual of the evening, the dual began in the Oaks favor with the near perfect momentum. Arellano would go and have himself a flawless weekend, picking up his third bonus point victory with a pin to begin the dual. After giving up a major at 133, Ethan Guillermo would do what is considered the unthinkable at 141, earning a 19-4 technical fall by putting in his opponent in a spladle multiple times, pickup 12 near fall points on his way to the win. Carson Gonzalez ended up picking up the quickest pin of the dual just inside of a minute to put the Oaks up 17-4 in the team score. Just when things were look fantastic, Snow would turn the momentum in their favor, earning four pins and a forfeit to collect 30 unanswered team points. Jakob Connors would have the most entertaining match of the day at heavyweight. With the bout tied 1-1 heading inside of the final :30 seconds, Connors would hit crispy lateral drop that led into a takedown and four-point near fall to earn himself the 8-1 decision for the final match of a long day.
