Oaks Earn Dominant Wins Against Concordia and Colorado Northwestern at Desert Duals

RESULTS

LAS VEGAS, NV –
For their final matches of 2025, the Oaks would go 2-1 at the Desert Duals inside of the Flamingo Hotel & Casino. Menlo would dominate Concordia (Wisc.) and Colorado Northwestern but would fall to wrestling powerhouse Wartburg in a heated battle.
 

Menlo v. Concordia (Wisc.), 53-0
Atridad Feizi would get the day started for the Oaks, picking up six takedowns on his way to a 19-9 decision. Michael Torres was the main guy for the Oaks at 141, beginning his day with a :29 second pin to put up six team points. Ivan Acosta and Noah Elliot followed with pins of their own to put the Oaks up 28-0 through the first five matches.

The final half of the dual was just as impressive as Kanaipono Tapia, Isaiah Morales, and Mathias Collins all earned technical falls. Sophomore Diego Morales would pick up the final pin of the dual while junior Cole Steketee tallied a 12-1 major with three takedowns to complete the 53-0 sweep.
 

Menlo v. Wartburg, 9-32
For their second dual, Menlo took on powerhouse No. 1 ranked NCAA DIII Wartburg. It was a slow start for the Oaks, with Wartburg grabbing the first three weights, two of those coming by major decisions. Michale Torres would bump up to 149, earning the lone victory in the first half of the dual 5-1. Kanaipono Tapia would start the second half of the dual taking down #9 Aiden Brosinski with two crisp takedowns to earn the 10-7 decision. Isaiah Morales followed with 8-3 decision over no. 10 Mike Slade for the Oaks final win of the dual, with Wartburg taking the 32-9 win over the Oaks while also giving them their first loss of the season.
 

Menlo v. Colorado Northwestern, 58-0
The Oaks would close out their day just as it begun. Sweeping Colorado Northwestern by an even bigger deficit by a score of 58-0. Erik Ramirez would start the dual off with a quick pin to put the Oaks first six points on the board. With a forfeit at 133, Torres would tally on another victory to his record with a fall of his own in two minutes. Ivan Acosta showcased his top game at 149, earning two takedowns and ten near-fall points to claim a 16-0 tech. The following three matches all came from pins, with Ezekiel Lara, Tapia, and Morales all claiming six team points each. Mathias Collins continued the fire with a 21-6 tech fall, collecting 7 takedowns. Cole Steketee put the nail in the coffin at heavyweight with a fall in two minutes to end their campaign in Sin City.

Now 4-1 on the season, Menlo will look towards their first competition of 2026 by heading to Gunnison, Colorado to take part in more dual action and the Western Colorado Open from January 10-11.
