Frisch’s 1,000-Point Milestone Highlights Second Half Push By Menlo

ATHERTON, CA – Inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion for the fourth consecutive time to start the 2025-26 season, Menlo Women's Basketball nearly completed a second-half comeback in a game won by Chico State 76-69 while senior guard Alberte Frisch became the ninth Oak in program history to achieve the 1,000-point career milestone on Saturday.

Oaks Highlights
-Alberte Frisch dropped a game-high 23 points, becoming the ninth Oak ever to reach 1,000 career points
-Mehkia Applewhite posted team highs of eight rebounds and four assists
-Jayonnah Carter swiped six more steals to give her 18 in her last two games

Menlo Outscores Chico State By 16 In Second Half
Tied three times midway through the opening quarter, Menlo and Chico State exchanged leads early before a 20-0 Wildcats run bridging the first two frames included four 3-pointers made. The Oaks responded with senior guard Jayonnah Carter converting at the rim and back-to-back triples coming from graduate student forward Frida Schmidt.

Chico State countered with 11 unanswered to go into the half up 47-24 yet that margin was cut in half in the third quarter thanks to a 19-3 surge that featured Frisch's 1,000-point achievement on the 243rd made free throw of her career (sixth in Menlo history).

Seven of freshman guard Angel Allen's 10 points came during that quarter-ending push which was followed by eight straight to begin the fourth as high-percentage looks for senior guard Mehkia Applewhite and sophomore forward Taylor Westbrook helped cut the deficit to five with over six minutes left. Going back to what got them the lead in the first place, the Wildcats proceeded to knock down three 3-pointers and, despite a 7-2 burst by Menlo thereafter, it was Chico State who walked away 76-69 winners.

Up Next
The Oaks next begin a stretch of four consecutive road games that will include the start of Pacific West Conference play in December. Opening that sequence will be one more non-conference matchup pitting Menlo against UC Santa Cruz on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m.
