BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Menlo Men's Wrestling program battled through a loaded field at the prestigious Roadrunner Open, coming away with several standout performances and one placer.

Highlights of the Tournament
- Michael Torres returned to the mat for the first time in over a year, making his season debut at 141lbs and picking up two strong bonus point victories
- Mathias Collins made his season debut at 184lbs after redshirting last season, earning a 17-1 technical fall in his first match
- Ivan Acosta stamped 2 wins on the day at 157lbs, earning a 7-3 decision win over Anthony Vargas of Cal Poly and a pin against Embry-Riddle's Sam Humphrey
- Joseph Estrada earned three wins on the day at 184, earning two wins by bonus points with a 10-1 major and an 18-0 technical fall

Tapia Steals the Spotlight
The headline of the day belonged to senior
Kanaipono Tapia, who continued his outstanding start to the season with another gritty performance against high-level competition. Tapia began his tournament with an 11-2 major decision over Cal State Bakersfield's Evan Manzo, displaying his offensive abilities against Division I talent. He kept his offense up against Travion Jones of Cal Poly Humboldt, earning a 15-0 techfall over the Lumberjack.

Tapia would be handed his first loss of the season in a tightly contested 9-3 bout against Logan Fowler of Air Force in the quarterfinal. The senior would bounce back with intensity on the backside of the bracket, earning two major decisions against Cal State Bakersfield and another Air Force opponent. Tapia would have his final match of the day against a local opponent In Dylan Pile of Stanford. Despite dropping the match 11-9, Tapia would tallied two late takedowns , nearly completing the comeback before time expired and placed 5
th.
