NCWA Menlo Men's Wrestling Add Three Dual Victories at Simpson Duals

REDDING, CA – The Menlo Men's NCWA Wrestling program immediately headed up to Northern California to take part in the Simpson Duals. The Oaks went 3-1 on the day by taking out Sac City College, Santa Rosa JC, and Shasta Community College.
 
Menlo v. Sac City 25-18
The Oaks kicked off the day against Sac City College with a 25-18 dual victory. Daniel Arrellano kept the momentum from last night's dual meet with a technical fall in 3 minutes to put 5 points on the board. Sophomore Dominick Clark made his season debut at 133 with a dominant 8-1 to add more team points on the board. Giancarlo Plaza and Eric Smith-Williams both earned gritty victories to help increase the Oaks lead now 14-0 through the first four weights.
 
The Oaks winning streak was stopped with a double forfeit at 157, and the Oaks forfeited at 165 to give up their first points of the dual. Ian Rodriguez was able to earn himself his second career victory with a tough 7-4 matchup at 174. The Panthers were able to take 184 while Veteran Mathew Porras Diamond had himself a barn burner of match with a 12-9 overtime victory. Sac City Was able to close the dual a victory of their despite the Oaks taking the dual victory.
 
Menlo v. Fresno City 15-33
The Oaks were unable to take out Fresno City, with the Rans taking control of the dual after Arrellano's 11-6 victory at 125. Matthew Porras Diamond was able to earn a first period pin while Jakob Connors made his season debut and earned himself a pin.

Menlo v. Santa Rosa JC
In their third dual of the day, Arellano earned his 3rd win of the day with a 10-9 win, but Santa Rosa answered back with a decision victory at 133 and a major at 141. Smith-Williams was able to get by a 4-2 decision to add three points to the Oak's total. In the next two matches, both teams traded forfeits. Menlo was able to earn bonus points in the next three weights despite dropping the heavyweight bout.
 
Menlo v. Shasta College 46-15
Daniel Arrellano capped off a stellar day going 4-0 by earning a fall in his final bout for the Oaks. Dominick Clark was able to earn a major decision at 133 to increase the Oaks lead. Ethan Guillermo continued the run with a pin of his own as well as Ian Rodriguez at 174. Diamond and Jackob Connors closed out the dual with pins to end their time at the Simpson Duals.
