ATHERTON, CA – The NCAA Division II early signing period was highlighted by a major addition to Menlo Men's Golf as Director of Golf
Jess Stimack and Assistant Coach
Joe Dolby have announced Cesare Pagliughi from Cassina de' Pecchi, Italy will join the program next fall.
"Cesare is the caliber of player that can single-handedly alter the trajectory of a college golf program," Stimack said. "He is a great young man that just happens to be really good at golf as well. We are thrilled to have him join the Menlo College Family!"
Coming to Menlo as a highly-ranked golfer in both Italy and Europe, Pagliughi has served as a member of the Italian U18 National Team. He emerged particularly over the course of the last year where he has earned five top-10 finishes including a share of the title in the TGF Trofeo Gianluca, a World Amateur Golf Ranking event.
"Coach Stimack and Coach Dolby believed in me and they gave me a great opportunity to show my game in the U.S.," Pagliughi said. "Menlo is a great place and I think that here I will be able to advance my studies and golf experience at the same time."
Outside of his work at Liceo Scientifio Faes Milano, Pagliughi delivered 10th-place and 12th-place results at the Italian Individual and Team U18 Championships, advancing to eventually claim a spot among the top 45 at the Italian International Championships.
"Cesare is a great addition to our program," Dolby said. "Having a history of working with talented players from Italy such as two-time PacWest Golfer of the Year Giulio Zanichelli at Academy of Art, I'm excited to see Cesare be the next one to walk in those footsteps."
Pagliughi intends to study Finance at Menlo when he begins his collegiate career next fall.
