Aggie Invitational Results | Singles & Doubles Draws

DAVIS, CA –
Matched up with numerous opponents from NCAA Division I institutions, Menlo Men's Tennis walked away from UC Davis' Aggie Invitational with a nice collection of strong performances. Freshman Tijl Forger was the farthest Oak to progress in singles action over multiple days of play out at Marya Welch Tennis Center.

Forger Strings Together Victories To Semifinals
Wins came for four different Oaks throughout the various singles draws highlighted by Forger's run to reach the semifinals of Flight D. The freshman initially dominated Caleb Poling of Jessup 6-3, 6-0 then outlasted Sacramento State's Miles Whitehead 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 before dropping a tightly-contested opening set and subsequent second to Bastien Maxant of Saint Mary's 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.

Senior Asger Emil Ildor was also victorious over a NCAA DI opponent in Sacramento State's Sebastian Vlahos, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 before dropping a 6-4, 6-4 result to Francisco Duran of Saint Mary's. Following his strong run at ITA West Regionals, freshman David Espinosa Navarro also triumphed in his opening round matchup with Joren Stevens of Jessup 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 then could not get past Santa Clara's Mahir Khurana 6-4, 6-2. Another Oak to emerge victorious out of an interdivisional matchup was junior Robin McAlpine over Sebastiano Cressi of Nevada 6-4, 6-2 though UC Davis' Nadaul Cheam's 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 result would end McAlpine's progression in the draw.

Multiple Oaks Pairs Succeed In Doubles Action
Standout doubles wins featured those of Espinosa Navarro and freshman Rodrigo Valdivieso against Jessup's Stevens and Lucas Pham 8-4 as well as the combination of Forger and junior Henry Riccioni-Brown getting past Poling plus Leo Pham-Kobayashi of Jessup 8-5. McAlpine and Asger Emil Ildor also teamed up to defeat Sacramento State's Nick Bowles and Freddie Healey 8-7 (7-1).
