Men’s Wrestling Takes Down Big Bend & Snow in Dominant Fashion

ATHERTON, CA – Men's Wrestling delivered two commanding performances against Snow College and Big Bend for an evening Tri-Dual. The Oaks secured an impressive 44-9 victory against Big Bend and then a 43-6 win over Snow, displaying their depth and talent across each weight class.
 

Menlo v. Big Bend
In the first dual of the night the Oaks were able to pick up a forfeit at 125 but Big Bend was able to pick up a pin at 133. However, the Oaks regained the lead with Brant Porter putting on an offensive clinic, earning a 17-0 tech fall. Noah Elliot was able to keep the momentum going with his own tech fall to increase the Oaks lead 17-6. Ezekiel Lara continued the Oaks bonus point run with a tech fall along with Devon Wells and Carson Howell collecting one of their own as well. The senior and freshman duo of Maximus Zamora at 184lbs and Diego Morales at 197lbs has been unstoppable in duals this season. Both wrestlers were able to pick up pins in their matches to give the Oaks a 44-6 lead heading into the final match of the dual. Despite an almost flawless performance for the Oaks, Big Bend was able to earn a sudden victory at heavyweight, making the final score of the dual 44-9.
 

Menlo v. Snow
For the second and final dual of the evening, the Oaks continued their dominant run, beating Snow College 44-9. Star freshman Elijah Valencia set the tone for Menlo with a 16-1 tech fall. Noah Messman kept the momentum going with a pin in the first period, with Porter and Elliot earning pins of their own. The Oaks momentum was stopped at 165lbs, with the team score being 27-3. The next three weights were all Menlo's, as Howell earned a pin, Zamora earned a tech fall, and Morales secured a major decision which furthered Menlo's lead to 43-3. Snow was able to secure a decision win at 285 to make the final score 43-6.
