Carmel, CA - The Oaks have a historic first tournament of the Fall Season at The Quail Golf Club. Menlo Women's Golf not only won the tournament by shooting a combined 65 over par, but also won their first tournament as part of the NCAA. This was an event to remember for the golf program and they are showing no signs of slowing down.
Rori Fanning Leads the Oaks to Victory
Freshman Rori Fanning, from Valencia, CA came to play. Fanning had an all around stellar tournament, having finished tied for second overall shooting a combined eleven over par. She also added a few birdies on the scorecard which helped Menlo achieve victory. This was Fanning's first collegiate event and she set the bar high, falling just short of first place individually by two strokes. The future looks very bright for Fanning as she will continue to improve each and every week.
There is no I in Team
A spectacular group of athletes put together by Golf Director Mike Givens, everyone played a key role in overall tournament success. Arianna Chan, Holly Obermuller, Sakshi Mehta, and Isa San Antonio all put up scores that overall won the Oaks the tournament by fourteen strokes. Not only that, they also posted the round of the tournament for the women in day two having shot a combined 32 over par. Director Givens said this after the round, "It was a bit of a slow start, but I had full confidence that they would get the job done. Which they did!"
