Atherton, CA-Menlo Women's Tennis entered todays matchup against the visiting ACU Firestorm receiving votes towards an NAIA Top 25 ranking with their GSAC rival Arizona Christian coming to town. What followed was a back and forth battle that came down to the final few sets of tennis. Thankfully, the Oaks outlasted their opponent and pulled off their seventh straight victory!

Doubles Play

The Oaks set the tone from the jump, winning the doubles portion of the match behind the pairs of Franziska Niederle and Anthea Weiland as well as Andrea Vlasceanu and Valentina Urelli Rinaldi. Both pairings would win in convincing fashion behind 6-2 scores. Because of the Oaks quick victories the third doubles match of the day did not even need to play to completion.

Top Singles Performers

With a 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches, Rinaldi, Vlasceanu and Milana Hrudka would come up big to close out the match in favor of the Oaks. Rinaldi followed up a dominant doubles performance with the most efficient singles win for the Oaks as well. She would win her match with back to back 6-2 scores in two sets. Vlasceanu would go to a third and decisive set before pulling out the victory. She would win her first set 6-3 before dropping the second 4-6. When it mattered most the Madrid native finished the job thanks to a decisive 6-2 score in the final set. Lastly, Hrudka would take care of business in just two sets. Most impressively she won her first set of the day 6-0! She finished off her opponent with a 6-4 score and helped the Oaks secure the victory in a tightly contested match.
