Atherton, CA-New Cross Country coach Kevin Handshoe has been busy on the recruiting trail and is excited to announce the addition of incoming freshman Benedict Antoni!
Antoni hails from the Werner Heisenberg Gymnasium where he not only raced competitively but also was a member of the fencing program as well. Antoni expressed his excitement in coming to Menlo saying: "I chose Menlo for a number of reasons. Primarily because of the academic opportunities and the internship programs. Furthermore I liked the location and the people I got to know during my decision-making process. Last but not least the networking opportunities sealed my choice."
When asked about Antoni joining the program coach Handshoe had nothing but praise for his newest recruit saying: "We are super excited to bring Benedict over to join the Oaks. He brings with him experience in the 5k and 10k which for most high school athletes the 10k is not in their repertoire. He boasts a 17:27 5k off the track and a 36:17 for his road 10k. After speaking with him he is confident before he wears the Menlo M he will have surpassed those times. His tenacity will be a great addition to Menlo College!" The 5K and 10K in particular are some of the toughest events given the sheer distance of said races. Having a true freshman that is already well versed in such long distances is a big boon for the program as Handshoe begins his time at the helm of Menlo Cross Country!
