4/19/2024 8:16:00 PM

Atherton, CA-With the regular season coming to a close Menlo Women's Tennis made it a point to secure one last victory on their homecourt for the 2023-2024 season. In conceiving fashion the Oaks dispatched the Warriors of Jessup and will now look to make a run at one last GSAC title next week!

Decisive Wins in Doubles Play

Off the bat the Oaks jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a pair of quick wins in doubles play. As has been the case for them all year the duo of Franziska Niederle and Angelika Sidorov led the way for Menlo early on as they won their matchup in shutout fashion posting a 6-0 score. Milana Hrudka and Livia Harper were equally impressive winning their match 6-3 to give the Oaks the sought after point that is associated with doubles matches.

Successful Singles Matches

Ones the individual matches got underway it was another strong display of Menlo tennis from many of the usual suspects. Hrudka and Sidorov combined to not only sweep their opponents but outscore them 24-2 in total. Valentina Urelli Rinaldi has long been the Oaks top individual player and once again asserted herself as a top tier player in all the GSAC. She would go on to win her match with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.

Up Next…

With the regular season finished the team now looks to get back to the GSAC Championship match. Last year the Oaks were able to make a deep playoff run that culminated in them falling just one game short of winning a conference championship. With a reloaded and motivated roster Menlo will look to make it all the way as champions for their last appearance in the GSAC!
