Llano, CA-In their final meet of the season before the conference tournament, the Oaks of Menlo Golf headed down to Llano, Califinora to participate in The Master's Invitational. It's been a solid year for both programs and they wrapped up their regular season with solid efforts that should set them up nicely for a strong few rounds of golf come playoff time.
Men Finish Second After Strong Team Showing
The men's team submitted a great team effort that saw them finish second thanks to a great final round of play that helped them move past Arizona Chrisitan by a single stroke! The Oaks were led by the duo of Jack Stark and Nicolas-Guy Landry. Stark played arguably his best three rounds of the season finishing one over par, two over par and then shooting on par across the multi day competition. The sophomore out of England has been one of the most stable players all year for the Oaks, even going back to his play at both PCH Tournaments. When asked about his performance Stark said: "I had a very promising couple of days, with a tough end to the first two rounds I Finished with a 73 and 74 for day 1. On the second day I looked to close the gap to the leaders, however with the putts not dropping late in the round I would shoot a final 72. The week was very promising for my game ahead of GSAC, I am looking forward to teeing it up next week." By the end of the tournament Stark had secured a fourth place individual performance while shooting just three over par as a total.
Alongside Stark, Landry has been the model of consistency and been a leader for the team both on and off the green. Once again Landry found himself with a top 10 finish placing sixth for after the three rounds of play. To highlight his dominance, this is the first time all season that Landry has not found himself in the top four for individual performances at any tournament this year. Landry's first and third round performances were excellent, shooting two under par on round one and one under par on round three. While he did struggle a bit during round two it wasn't enough to keep him from another top six finish. His willingness to battle through a rough round and close on such a high note highlights Landy's ability to lead this team both physically and mentally. He had this to say after his performance: "I played quite well this week and the conditions were tough. I had to battle a lot in the second round and stayed positive. Then I finished strong which is great momentum for next week"
The rest of the Oaks "A" team was rounded out by Paul Hautbourg, Tej Gangavarapu and Paul Breuer. Gangavarapu would finish tenth overall helping the Oaks secure three spots in the final top 10!
Women's Team Led by Solid Individual Play
On the women's side the Oaks were very consistent in their play with four Oaks finishing within two strokes of each other. Leading the way was Isa San Antonio who secured an eighth place finish thanks to two solid rounds of golf. Zoie Fuentes and Arianna Chan, who played as an individual, would be engaged in a tie for eleventh place. Especially for Fuentes, who is a freshman, it was a great confidence booster to place amongst some of the top Oaks with GSAC play just around the corner! Lastly, finishing just one stroke behind Chan and Fuentes, Holly Obermuller put together an outstanding bounce back effort in round two to fly up the leaderboards 10 spots on the final round of play. After a slow start in round one, Obermuller would rally and end up shooting 15 strokes better during round two than her performance in round one!

The GSAC Tournament is now on deck for the Oaks who will look to make a statement in their biggest tournament of the year. There have been really strong showings all year long for the Oaks highlighted by both teams winning the PCH Invitationals earlier this season. Coach Mike Givens teams should be poised to make some noise out in Arizona next week!
