Men's Wrestling Sweeps Quad Dual in Vanguard

Costa Mesa, CA – Menlo Men's wrestling sweeps headed down to Vanguard University in order to partake in a quad dual against Vanguard, Fresno State, and Westcliff. It would be the first time the Oaks have gone up against each team for the first time this season and they did not disappoint.
 

Menlo (30) v. Vanguard (20)
The Oaks emerged victorious in their first dual of the day against Vanguard. The Oaks would win the dual 30-20 and demonstrated dominance across multiple weight classes. The dual started off with Vanguard forfeiting 125lbs, then Noah Messman would win a solid 10-3 decision at 133lbs. Vanguard would take 141 by tech-fall but Noah Elliot answered back with his own tech-fall at 149 making the team scores 14-5. Ezekiel Lara would continue adding bonus points by majoring his opponent 17-3. Vanguard responded with a decision win 165, and 174. Senior Maximus Zamora delivered a critical pin at 184 pounds, taking out his opponent in just over a minute. The dual concluded with the Oaks earning a forfeit at 197lbs, solidifying the team's win despite a late pin by Vanguard's in the heavyweight bout.
 

Menlo (51) v. Westcliff (6)
In their second dual of the day, the Oaks delivered an even more impressive performance against Westcliff University. The Oaks would go on to win 9 out of the 10 dual matches with 6 pins. The Oaks collected a forfeit at125lbs, then Jeramiah Steele wasted no time, pinning his opponent in 2:49 to extend Menlo's lead. Noah Messman would then bump up to 141 and secured a gritty 4-3 win. Westcliff would forfeit the next two weifhts, then John Quinonez would earn himself a fall in the third period. After earning yet another forfeit at 174, Scott Beadles and Diego Morales both earned pins to increase the Oaks lead once again. Despite giving up a fall at heavyweight, the Oaks would go and win their second dual of the day 51-6.
 

Menlo (58) v. Fresno State (0)
In the Oaks final dual of the day, the program delivered a flawless performance over Fresno State. Elijah Valencia would kick things off with an impressive pin in just over a minute while Noah Messman would go on and earn a forfeit. Jeramiah Steele switched places with Messman and took on the 141lb weight class and showed out with a :23 pin! Noah Elliot and Ezekiel Lara would earn pins at 149 and 157, as the Oaks would earn forfeits at 165 and 174lbs. To conclude the final matches, Scott Beadles and Diego Morales both earned pins as Emit Mercado would go and earn a major decision win at heavyweight to close out the dual 58-0.
