Oak Squad Wrestling Unable to Takedown SF State 17-30

San Francisco, CA – This past Saturday, Oak Squad wrestling continues to battle this season against top notch competition, this time against Bay Area neighbors, San Francisco State. Despite battling with tenacity, the Oaks would fall to the Gators in a tightly contested dual 15-27.
 

Match by Match
SF State was able to obtain a forfeit at 125lbs, with the first official match starting at 133lbs. The Oaks would drop a tightly contested bout 2-3, giving the team score lead to SF 0-9. Menlo would earn a forfeit at 141lbs now making the team score 6-9. The Oaks would drop the next two weights by tech fall and by pin going into the 165lb weight class. JT Nishikawa would have the most exciting match of the dual. In a thrilling back and forth battle to determine a high scoring bout, with Nishikawa coming out on top 19-16. Nikita Smatov continued the Oaks' momentum, getting a gritty 10-6 decision to make the score 12-20. After dropping a pin at 184lbs, Matthew Porras Diamond would show his offensive prowess. Diamond would go on to earn a dominant 15-0 technical fall win heading into the final match of the day. Oak Squad would drop the last match by major decision, falling to the Gators 17-30.
