Menlo Men's Wrestling Falls to Colorado Mesa 15-25

San Francisco, CA – Menlo Men's Wrestling headed to San Francisco, CA to take on Colorado Mesa in a dual meet inside of SF State's main gymnasium. The Oaks would fall to the Mavericks 15-25 in a competitive series of matches.
 

First Half of the Dual
The first half of the dual saw Colorado Mesa come out strong. The Mavericks would win the first three matches of the day and would take a 0-13 lead. Brant Porter would secure the Oaks first win of the dual at 149lbs. Porter showed true resilience during his matchup as he scored two clutch takedowns to cut his opponents lead 9-10. With less than five seconds left in his match, Porter would hit a multiple attacks to secure a takedown and earn himself a 12-10 match win, making the score 3-13.
 

Second Half of the Dual
After giving up a pin at 157, the Oaks would find themselves gaining momentum. Senior Seth Borba would make his season debut with a gritty 7-4 decision victory. Fellow Senior Ledger Petracek would also make his season debut. Patracek would find himself going attack for attack in a close matchup. Patracek was able to hold onto the lead in the third period to secure an 8-6 victory, now making the team score 9-19. Yet another senior in Maximus Zamora would make his season debut, earning a tough 6-4 decision win. Freshman Diego Morales would continue Menlo's vision of a comeback. With the team score being 12-19, Morales would end up putting his opponent on his back with chance to cut the Maverick's lead to only being up by 1 team point, but his opponent would find the energy to hold the match to a decisive win for Morales 9-3, now making the team score 15-19. The Oaks however would end up giving up a pin in the heavyweight bout and the Mavericks would come out on top 15-25. Despite the final outcome, Menlo's performance in San Francisco displayed the Oaks' tenacity and potential for growth as they progress through their season. The senior trio of Seth Borba, Ledger Petracek, and Maximus Zamora set a strong example, each earning victories in their season debuts, while freshman Diego Morales nearly turned the momentum with a decisive win of his own.
