Menlo College’s Newest Weightlifters Make Strong Debut at Rite of Passage Open

OAKLAND, CA — Menlo Weightlifting celebrated an impressive start to their newest competitors' careers this season as three of their athletes competed in their first-ever meet at the Speed Power Strength Rite of Passage 2024. This event, exclusively for first-time competitors, provided Tiphaine Marty, Jordann Haley, and Isaac Hartman with the perfect stage to showcase their skills and mark their debut on the platform.



Tiphaine Marty - 96kg Total

Tiphaine Marty delivered a remarkable performance, completing five of her six attempts and demonstrating both precision and poise. The junior from Paris, France just joined the team in the Fall of 2024 and is already showing commitment in the weight room. She posted a 42kg Snatch and a 54kg Clean & Jerk, highlighting her potential and setting a strong foundation for future competitions. Her consistency under pressure was a key highlight of her debut.


 

Jordann Haley - 153kg Total

Jordann Haley showed his grit and determination during his first competition, successfully completing a 73kg Snatch and an 80kg Clean & Jerk. While his final Clean & Jerk attempt at 85kg was called for a press-out, his performance reflected his readiness to push boundaries and compete with heart. Nonetheless, Haley was showered with support from his loved ones as he shined on the platform. The sophomore out of Sacramento, CA walked onto the squad this Fall after learning the mechanics and building upon his skills in the weight room. Jordann's enthusiasm was evident throughout the meet, earning him praise from coaches and teammates alike.


 

Isaac Hartman - 183kg Total

Isaac Hartman impressed with an almost flawless performance, completing five of his six attempts. He lifted 83kg in the Snatch and broke into triple digits with a 100kg Clean & Jerk, showcasing his strength and technical ability. Hartman is a local star out of Redwood City, CA and is currently a sophomore at Menlo. His presence in the weightroom has motivated many of his teammates. Isaac's debut was a testament to his hard work and dedication, marking a promising start to his competitive career.

The Menlo Weightlifting team is now preparing for the rest of the season, with these athletes aiming to build on their successes and refine their skills. The team's debut at the SPS Rite of Passage has set a positive tone, promising an exciting year ahead for Menlo Weightlifting. The vet's are preparing for their appearance in the Hassle Free Winter Breaker 2024 happening in Hayward, CA on Sunday December 15th!
