Oak Squad Shines with 9 Champions at the Battle at Sparta Tournament

San Jose, CA – Oak Squad wrestling took a quick trip down the road to participate at the Battle at Sparta tournament that was held at San Jose State University. Oak Squad displayed complete dominance as they place 18 wrestlers throughout every weight class.
 

Placements
125 – Jimmy Romero and Caleb O'Hara showcased their skills, both securing podium finishes. Romero dominated early, pinning his first opponent and collecting two technical falls in the quarterfinals and semifinals. He finished the tournament as runner-up after a hard-fought finals match. O'Hara also impressed, earning a 16-6 major decision to reach the semifinals. Though he fell in the semis, O'Hara bounced back with two victories to claim 3rd place.
 
133 – Giancarlo Plaza and Dominic Clark were the two Oaks that dominated at 133. Both Plaza and Clark were able to earn two tech falls to get into the final bout of their bracket, with Plaza earning the top spot and Clark placing 2nd.
 
141 – David Arroyo dominated his bracket, earning bonus points in every match. Arroyo achieved one technical fall and three pins to take home 1st place in commanding fashion.
 
149 - Eric Smith-Williams and Michael Ramos shone in the 149-pound weight class. Smith-Williams earned multiple decision wins to secure 2nd place, falling only to his Fresno State opponent in the finals. Ramos showcased his skills with two pins, finishing the tournament in 4th place.
 
157 – Jesus Loreto displayed his offensive prowess, earning two pins in the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the finals, Loreto unleashed a relentless attack, securing a 17-0 technical fall to capture 1st place without giving up a single point.
 
165 – JT Nishikawa kept the momentum going for the Oak Squad. He earned an 18-0 technical fall to secure his semifinal spot, followed by a pin and another technical fall to claim the championship.
 
174 – Oak Squad dominated the 174lb weight class, with three wrestlers earning podium spots. Nikita Smatov took 1st place, while Avan Singh secured 2nd. Torin Lipska rounded out the trio, finishing 3rd after collecting two pins and a technical fall.
 
184 – Orion Jenkins-Schell celebrated his first collegiate tournament victory in style. The freshman was able to rack up three pins and a technical fall in the final match to claim 1st place.
 
197 – Matthew Porras Diamond and Cameron Bauman claimed 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the 197-pound weight class. Diamond delivered two pins, while Bauman added one, showcasing the team's depth and talent.
 
235 – Andrew Mannion and Luca O'Neil were dominant forces in the 235-pound division. Mannion, with an incredible four pins and a technical fall, captured 1st place, while O'Neil secured 3rd with three pins of his own.
 
285 – Aidan Roe capped off the Oak Squad's impressive showing with a stellar performance in the heavyweight division. Roe secured a pin in his opening match and an 8-2 decision in the finals to take 1st place.
 
Oak Squad's outstanding performance at the Battle at Sparta tournament highlighted the team's talent and relentless drive for success this season. With champions across nearly each weight, the team continues to establish itself as a powerhouse.
