Menlo Men’s Golf Brings it Home at the Run-in at the Ranch Tournament

10/1/2024 8:42:00 PM

Klamath Falls, OR - The final round of the second tournament of the fall season for the Menlo Men's Golf team was absolutely incredible.  Facing a deficit of three strokes, the Oaks came together in confidence and managed to get the job done and take first place.  It was a solid performance from everyone and ultimately resulted in a victory for Menlo by two strokes.

Jack Stark Carried the Boats

Jack is Back! After missing the last tournament due to injury, Jack Stark is back like he never left.  Stark found his groove early going into the second round as he started out hot.  On the front nine, he had three birdies logged on the scorecard; when Stark got to hole eight, which is a long par 5, he knew it was his time to strike.  Stark delivered a booming drive down the middle of the fairway followed by a perfect iron shot that left him with about 15 feet for eagle.  He putts it, it's rolling, and it's in.  This was the first of two eagles on the day for Stark.  This was a bounce back round that ultimately led to the Oaks success.  Stark shot a round low for the field today by shooting a 68, four under par.

Nicolas-Guy Landry Carried the Logs

Canadian senior Nicolas-Guy Landry is no rookie when it comes to needing clutch shots to help his team win.  Landry shot a total one over par for the tournament and finished T-2nd in the field.  He came into today knowing what was needed of him if the Oaks were going to pull off the comeback.  Landry tallied three birdies on the scorecard and also added an eagle on hole two which is par five dog leg left.  He finished the final round shooting two under par for a 70 on the day.

A quote from Coach Ryan Stefko

Stefko said, "After day one we felt very confident going into day two and throughout the entire day we were all very optimistic on what we were doing and knew the job that was necessary to be done and we executed very well. The players responded how they needed to. I'm very proud of them all."
