HOQUIAM, WA – Menlo College Oak Squad Men's Wrestling competed in the two-day 2024 NCWA Western Duals Championships hosted by Greys Harbor College. The Oak Squad Wrestling program is designed to develop and prepare Menlo wrestlers for the upcoming two year transition into NCAA DII. Across 8 dual matches, the Oaks went undefeated to claim the Championship title.

Day 1: Pool Play

The young Oaks competed against opponents from Washington State University, Utah Tech University, University of British Columbia, and the University of Washington on Saturday and were victorious over all of them. There were 10 pins tallied across the four duals and Cameron Bauman (197) earned 3 of them. Along with Bauman, JT Nishikawa (149), Logan Childers (165), and JC Escutia (184) all went undefeated on day one.

Day 2: Championship Pool

The Oaks continued their momentum on day two as Menlo was faced against Wayne State, Washington State, Fresno State, and Colorado State. Menlo won 10 of the 11 weight classes against Wayne State, 3 by pin, to begin the championship pool. Two more back-to-back wins over Washington State (45-14) and Fresno State (44-12), the Oaks advanced to the Championship dual against Colorado State. Rocco Forte (133) and Atridad Feizi (141) each earned pins to give the Oaks a 12-0 lead. Feizi's pin was just 40 seconds into his match! After 149 and 157 falling in favor of Colorado, Menlo was able to win out the rest of the dual. 3 more pins from Logan Childers (165), JC Escutia (184) and Cam Bauman (197) would seal the Championship title for the Oaks. This is the second dual tournament that Oak Squad has gone undefeated, the first taking place at Desert Duals back in December. It was a tremendous team outing for Menlo Oak Squad Wrestling and now they return to the bay with more hardware to show off!
