ATHERTON, CA – #1 Menlo Women's Wrestling hosted their 2024 senior night on Friday evening followed by a dual matchup against the #9 Vanguard Lions. After honoring their 10 graduating seniors, the Oaks won every weight class and totaled 5 pins and two tech falls. It was an electric night filled with celebration and a lot of wins!
Oaks Get Through Lions Swiftly
It felt like one of the shortest dual matches the Oaks have completed this season as they were able to lay 5 pins down. Kayla McKinley-Johnson (101) began the night with a tech fall over Abby Cabaug to go up 4-1 in the team score. Alejandra Corral (116) would follow with a quick pin in just two minutes into the first period. Alana Vivas (123) would win by forfeit, leading to Louisa Schwab (136) who tallied a 12-0 tech fall to make the team score 18-1. From there it was back-to-back pins from Stephanie Chavez (136), Desiree Jones (143), Shannon Workinger (155) and Kalila Shrive (155). And to top it all off, senior Tavia Heidelberg-Tillotson (191) won by forfeit for the clean sweep. Head Coach Michael Ayala is now undefeated inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion in the 2023-24 season and hopes to continue this momentum as we get closer to conference and NAIA tournaments!
