Atherton, CA-The past week has been a good one for Menlo's young tennis program. The men's team is currently riding a five match winning streak and after today's victory, the women now join them having won five straight matches as well. With all the momentum they could ask for, Menlo Women's Tennis is now primed for a GSAC matchup against Jessup to end their regular season.-
Two Wins in the Doubles
As has been the case for the Oaks for much of this season they once again started off hot. Menlo would win the doubles thanks to great showings by Valentina Urelli Rinaldi & Milana Hrudka and Lea Mocher & Andrea Vlasceanu. Hrudka and Rinaldi would win their set via a 6-2 score while Mocher and Vlasceanu were even more effective with a 6-1 victory over Dominican's duo.
Close Matchups in the Singles
During the singles matches Dominican proved to be stiff competition. Franziska Niederle still managed a quick victory thanks to a very dominant effort. She would win her sets by scores of 6-0 and 6-2. Rinaldi wouldn't be far behind winning her sets in convincing fashion as well. She would win 6-1 and 6-3. After these two quick victories the rest of the Oaks would be in back and forth affairs. Thankfully Hrudka would win both her matches to clinch the Oaks victory. Sidorov and Vlasceanu would split a set apiece with their opponents before the match was called.
Up Next…
