DOWNEY, CA -- Women's Wrestling sweeps the Tri-Dual Showdown between Vanguard and Cerritos College. The Oaks first took on Vanguard at 5pm, then Cerritos College at 6pm, followed by a dual between Vanguard and Cerritos to end the night. Menlo takes down Vanguard 41-6 and Cerritos College 35-10.
#5 Menlo meets conference foe Vanguard on the mat first. 109 #3 Barbara Greenberg adds the first points to the Oaks by tech fall against opponent Norma Can, who is ranked #7 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. From there, the Oaks dominated by earning 3 pins. 130 Stephanie Chavez tallies her pin against Neveah Chambers, 155 Alexandra Lopez pins #4 Reyna Montenegro, and #4 Nikita Dhaliwal versus Ireri Mares at 170. It was a quick turnaround for the Oaks as they jumped straight in against Cerritos College.
Cerritos College is one of the top Women's Wrestling Junior College Programs in California, so the Oaks we prepared to see some good competition. #4 Kayla McKinley-Johnson opened things up at 101 by defeating Jessica Hong by pinning her. #2 Haley Narahara adds more to her win colomn as she tallies a tech fall against Jewelysa Funakosh. At the end of the night, Tavia Heidelberg-Tillitson does what she does best and pins Isabella Pacheco at 191.
