Menlo Cross Country is proud to announce the addition of new head coach Kevin Handshoe. Handshoe brings years of experience as both an athlete and coach to the program as he looks to help get both the men’s & women’s programs headed towards success quickly.

Handshoe began his cross country career in high school running all four years at West Noble High School before graduating in 2012. Upon graduation Handshoe would take his talents to the Big Ten conference where he would compete for both the cross country and track & field programs at Purdue University. As a Boilermaker, Handshoe competed in a wide variety of events across all distances.

His personal best times include:

  • 1:54 in the 800 Meters

  • 3:53 in the 1500 Meters

  • 4:11 in the 1600 Meters

  • 25:35 in the 8K

  • 32:22 in the 10K

Handshoe would graduate with his degree in Exercise Kinesiology in 2016 and then embarked upon his coaching career. He would spend the 2017 season coaching at his former high school track before moving to Arizona as the head cross country and assistant track coach at Sahuaro High School. Under his leadership Sahuaro would send several athletes to the state meet for both cross country and track. While in Arizona, Handshoe also obtained his General Education Teaching Certificate as well as his Level 1 USATF Coaching certification.

In 2022 Handshoe would return to Purdue as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Purdue University. He would help the men’s team secure a fifth place finish in the Big Ten for cross country. On top of coaching Handshoe would also take on recruiting and social media responsibilities to continue and help the Boilermakers program on and off the course.

Now as the 2023 season gets underway Handshoe has joined the Oaks as he brings an outstanding combination of coaching and racing experience to Atherton.
